Hello everyone! Episode 3 of Terrius Talks Tech went up this morning. I am hoping to start posting a new T₃ video at least every other Tuesday as I find them very fun to make (though perhaps a bit more difficult)! For today's episode I decided to see if I could make some graphs and a spreadsheet to help me get a better view of the AMD Ryzen Ecosystem as a whole. Thus I decided to aggregate 10 different sites worth of Ryzen (and Intel) benchmarks to find out what the Mean performance is of the platform. The most annoying part of looking at benchmarks for me is the variance to what settings people use. Therefore I figured by aggregating the data it would balance out the extremes of setting choices that bench markers may have chosen. The synthetic benchmark aggregation was super easy and took almost no time at all. The real hard part was trying to find games that a majority of reviewers reported scores for, in the end I settled on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Rise of the Tomb Raider, G...

Hello everyone, It was a hectic week this week and due to some unfortunate events I wasn't able to continue my 555 timer video series. I decided that I would use some previously recorded Kit build footage and make a minisode rather than not post anything at all. This week's episode is another aliexpress kit build, it is one of the "melody voice" kits that is supposed to detect sound and light the LEDs based on volume. It has a very hard time detecting voice but works well for vibrations like tapping on the table or blowing air across the microphone. Also for this episode, rather than having music play during the fast-forward of the soldering, I decided to tell a tale from my time working in computer sales! For anyone that is interested I've also started a new Facebook page for Tinkering With Terrius  so if you want to see random posts/videos about my progress on episodes and projects take a look!

Hello Everyone, I was given ten 555 timers a while back and finally decided that I should start to play around with them. I had never used one before so I decided to make an episode about them. In today's episode we take a look at the TI NE555P timer chip, we also use it in A-stable operation to blink a couple of LEDs! I hope you will enjoy it! https://youtu.be/h2UPKD-Yohg

Hello Everyone! Just thought I'd make a post and let you all know that Terrius Talks Tech episode 2 has been uploaded. I got inspired to make a video about the Jayden K. Smith chain letter hoax going around Facebook. It is important to note there is no way for somebody to hack your Facebook account simply through a friend request. They can however gain access to personal information that is viewable by your friends, such as birthdate, birth town, current address, and through social engineering they can try to coax other information out of you that can in the end potentially be used to Hijack your account, or worse, steal your identity. The moral of these scams is simple, only add people you trust to your friends list, and never follow a link from any source that you cannot verify the legitimacy of. This isn’t to say that you should fear every single friend request, simply exercise some caution, after all now-a-days so much of our personal information is online that a simple F...

Upload: TWT #21: Aliexpress Blinky LED Kit

Image
Hello Everyone! Today I posted a new kit build episode. Finally after 4 months I received my blinky LED kits from aliexpress! I still have to put together my Capacitance tester, but after a very stressful two weeks I figured I'd do something easy and enjoyable without many components to work with. I hope you all enjoy it!

Long overdue blog update! TWT 20, Mini 10, and T3 001!

Hello Everyone, June turned out to be a very stressful and sad month, because of that I fell a bit behind on updating here. From June 19th until July 1st I was away from my computer and all I had for editing was some pre-recorded footage and my laptop (which did not make editing/rendering video pleasant). I apologize if the two videos I released were of poorer quality, I also couldn't use one of my editing tools. I am back now though, and will try to keep this up to date! I changed the blog's theme, the orange on grey was getting a bit annoying for me, so I swapped to blue on grey since that is more or less my Tinkering With Terrius channel colours. On June 21st I posted TWT #20, which was a review of the Neoteck NTK017/NT8233D Pro. The meter it self seemed okay, but inside the PCB was clearly designed down to a specific cost. The traces for the inputs were very narrow, and the only input protection was a single PTC. I was quite surprised as I had expected to see it be a...
